My Big Wide Yellow Wall

Well, this is my big wide yellow wall. It's the first thing anyone walking through the front door sees. I need some ideas for filling the space. The other 2 walls have old pictures of relatives and a giant family tree fan chart. Just so you have an idea of what's going on in the room. This wall is starting to get to me, I'd love to hear any and all ideas.

Kristi- I wish I had tips for you, but I think you know by now, I have ZERO skills in the realm of craftiness and home decor (by the way, how'd your cabinets turn out?). I did want to answer your question about legos...We've bought the "Creator" legos for Ian. It's where you can build different things with one set of legos. Very fun. Not sure if they have very many "girlie" sets or not. ( I know that the duplos (the bigger legos) do sell more girl colored legos. Check walmart) Josh is somewhat fanatical about not losing the legos (which is virtually impossible with so many little hands), but I would recommend a large tupperware container (like a costume container or something of the sort) to put them all in. Cohen (1 1/2) really likes the legos too, but since Josh doesn't want pieces lost, I try to limit "tiny lego" time to when he's sleeping. Luke (3)does just fine with the little legos making all sorts of different creations. But if you're worried about Gibs eating legos, I'd go for the duplos. Our kids still love playing with them even though we have the tiny legos. I really don't think you can go wrong either way.

ps. I'm sure you already know this, but the more duplos/legos, the better! (I'd recommend the big bucket as seen in my pictures) The kids get upset when the piece they want is already being used by someone else! And you know, they make cute duplo sets too. We have some "CARS" themed duplos that are fun.

Good luck! Legos are our on Christmas list this year too!

If it were my wall, I would make a patchwork quilt (like Grandma's) to fill the ENTIRE space...I think that would be awesome!

Hi, I actually have a blank wall in my house and I am going to get some vinal letters saying wall of fame and then I am going to put random pictures (wedding picures, baby pictures, family pictures ex.) I am getting all of the frames from yard sales or on sale and painting them all brown and black so the color matches but the sizes wont. I will just add as I get more pictures and frames and the best part is they really dont have to be in any order they will just be the same color. Well that is my idea. Good luck

What happened to the photos you had on it? I loved that idea. But I do love Brice's idea even more :) You could cover the wall in 2 quilts easy.

It's so funny because I actually already have a wall in my house covered with a patchwork quilt Nate's Grandma made for him when he was a baby.AND I LOVE IT! It really is a great idea Brice!

And the other funny thing is I used to have on this wall just what Autumn said, brown and black frames with pictures of family in them!
(I just moved them to another wall in my house RicAnn-the wall with the book shelves)

Isn't that awesome?!? It's a cousin thing. It must have been all those commercials we made up together (remember Dunkin Doughnuts?) Or maybe it was all those art festival paper hats we made together...Anyway something put us cousins on the same creative wave. I LOVE IT!!!

Thanks for the ideas! Keep em comin'!!

It sounds like the room already has a family theme, so why not continue with it. My wife and I did this in our living room it's simple and easy. we'll post a picture of it on our blog if you would like to see it. Tell nate one way or another he should check our site out. It would be nice to hear from him. Scotty
